Eagles nest and Salzburg

One day of rest , I decided was enough.  So off I went to drive the worlds windiest road on the worlds highest mountain to take a looky look at where hiltler drank his tea and planned out his evil deeds with his evil pals. Sounds like a good idea.  Ok maybe not really the worlds windiest road or highest mountain but it sure felt that way to me especially with the fear of another vertigo spell.  But I decided to chance it.  You have to take a bus as your car can not go all the way to the house on top of the mountain.  So I had the front row seat and tried not to notice how close we were to the cliffs of insanity on every windy turn. The bus seemed to know what it was doing as it winded its way up higher and higher. Looking down you could see all the way to Salzburg , big green valleys , ice capped mountains you know, what you would expect to see up there.  When you get off the bus you get in an elevator and go up even more. So when I finally made it to hitlers tea house , it was beautiful for sure, and the closest thing to mountain climbing I will ever care to experience.  An elevator takes me up , there's a restaurant up top where you can drink a beer and stare out at the snow capped mountains I sware I could see the whole world from up there.  My  kind of mountain climbing. Even a flushing toilet was available. Why anyone feels the need to walk up mountains and risk their life and poop in the snow is beyond me. Just go here , take the elevator , I'm sure it's the same view. A mountain is a mountain. We'll enough of that.
Salzburg. It was rainy and dreary still. I had told jim one thing I would love to do was hear a orchestra in Salzburg the birthplace of Mozart. But it's Sunday ,it's late in the afternoon, it's grey outside what are the chances of that? We'll we wander into the city square and what do we hear? Orchestra!!! We follow the magical sound and find a free concert in the city square, the melodious instruments bouncing off the walls of a castle above us.  We'll hello Salzburg!  We get a beer and some schnitzel at and sit down at the picnic tables to enjoy. What a wonderful city! Beautiful , old, so much art culture music everywhere surrounded by a deteriating castle wall a pristine river and reminders of mozarts roots everywhere. We take a carriage ride, I get to be close to horses which warms me on the inside despite the dark gloomy clouds. This is truly a charming city. We love it,  it's a place we must come again.
Heading to croatia tomorrow I can't wait to get some sunshine and warm weather.

  1. If in Austria make sure you go get weiner sniztel with Weisse Beer. Ask for a local spot not the tourist one . Weiner sniztel is not what you think! Must do..
