Teenagers and death threats in the airport

Well we have safely taken off and are on our way to Stockholm first then Amsterdam. we had a wonderful day with jimmies parents before we left. We arrived three hours early to the airport to avoid any last minute confusion and allow plenty of time for that cold beer. All was well until we passed through security and one of our teenagers who shall remain nameless at this time tried smuggling a laptop in his bag . This after strict instructions that that was not supposed to come with us. This nameless teenager probably figured he could slip in his bag and go unnoticed until we arrived In Europe then what else were to do but say " oh honey I know we have spent our life savings to drag your hormonal ass half way across the world but since you obviously love your video games so much no need to visit the much awaited historical sights that some people would give anything to see, just sit here and play on line games with your friends instead"  forget climbing real castle stairs with real moats and seeing real armor and torture chambers, build them online in your imaginary video world instead. We'll that was a chance he must have felt was worth the risk, but he did not consider that in security he would be discovered when the lap top was removed from his bag for examination.
His next plan of action was to deny the obvious premeditated act of defiance. Denial. That is always the next plan. " I just forgot it was there" So now we have two almost criminal acts in the land of parenting. Disobedience and untruthfulness. I was scared. I thought I saw smoke blow from Jim's nostrils. This was going to be bad. I whispered to Jimmie " honey lets not make a scene, let's deal with this later" the next thing I heard was something in the line of I gonna kill him. This said directly in front of the security guards. All I could think of was oh my gosh, I am pretty sure that your not supposed to say anything about killing in an AirPort.I thought surely they may confiscate my Arabian angry husband. I looked at the guards who saw the entire thing going down and saw them giggle. Surely they have insolent teenagers also.
Thankfully because of our early arrival jim was able to call a good friend who works near Oakland who was able to drive over and confiscate the smuggled goods and take them home with him.
Two months , that's what we have got. Two months to reconnect with each other and with real life and real beauty in a world that has become consumed with virtual fake everything. Kids live in fake worlds with fake on line friends, parents are consumed with conversations not just at work but with phones and emails and texts that bring their work and all the stress with it right into the home. The dinner table was once a sacred place where family's sat quietly enjoying each other with no interruptions. Now it may as we'll be a dinner table / office / arcade/social media center. We have all become so consumed with the unrealities I don't know if we even know how to live in the real moment and be satisfied with the simpleness of what is in front of us in flesh and blood and dirt and sky and green grass and fresh air, mountains and every other blessing in life. We have two months to disconnect from the unrealities and connect with the realities. That is my one single wish and if it takes flying across the world to do that I really don't care what we see or do this is really what it's all about.
